SCHOOL PERFORMANCE
Bay Primary School 2024 SATs Results
What are SATs?
SATs are statutory assessments carried out by all state schools.
They assess how your child's abilities compare nationally with other children in the same year group. Your child will be assessed at Key Stage 2 (KS2), when your child will take part in National Curriculum tests in Reading, Mathematics and Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation at the end of Year 6 (usually age 11). Writing is judged through teacher assessment, this is quality assured through moderation with other schools and the Local Authority.

School Performance Tables
The primary school performance tables provide information on the achievements of pupils in primary schools, how they compare with other schools in the local authority (LA) area and in England as a whole.
The data can be viewed and downloaded from the performance tables section of the Department for Education website.
The tables show:
- Results from the KS2 tests in reading, mathematics and grammar, punctuation and spelling
- KS2 teacher assessments in English, reading, writing, mathematics and science
- KS1-2 progress measures in reading, writing and mathematics
- KS1-2 value added
They also include key measures for sub-groups of pupils in each school, including disadvantaged pupils, low, middle and high attaining pupils, boys, girls, pupils with English as an additional language and pupils who have been in the school throughout the whole of years 5 and 6 (non-mobile pupils).

Bay Primary School Early Years Foundation Stage Profile
What is the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP)?
The EYFS profile is a summary of your child’s attainment at the end of Reception. It’s not a test, and your child can’t ‘pass’ or ‘fail’.
The profile measures your child’s attainment in 17 areas of learning, known as Early Learning Goals (ELGs).

Bay Primary School National Phonics Testing
The national phonics screening test was introduced in 2012 to all Year 1 pupils. It is a short, statutory assessment to confirm whether individual pupils have learnt phonic decoding to an appropriate standard. It aims to identify the children who need extra help so that they can be given support by school to improve their reading skills.
The check includes a ten page booklet with four words on each page. The check contains 40 words divided into two sections of 20 words. Each page will contain either four pseudo-words (Alien/made up words) or four real words.
There is no time limit for the check. The children can take as long as they need. For those children who can not concentrate for long periods, the check can be broken up into short periods.
If your child has not met the expected standard by the end of Year 1 then they will retake the test in the June of Year 2.

Bay Primary School Year 4 Multiplication Check
The multiplication tables check (MTC) is statutory for all year 4 pupils registered at state-funded maintained schools, special schools or academies, including free schools, in England.
The purpose of the MTC is to determine whether pupils can recall their times tables fluently, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It will help schools to identify pupils who have not yet mastered their times tables, so that additional support can be provided.
